What kind of a hose did you guys use for power steering hose?
Is return line different size than supply line?
I have LS1 with original power steering box with corvette power steering rack.
Do i need to use a rubber/Braided stainless steel or line similar to break line?
Also what kind of connections to use?
Any help appreciated.

| For the pressure side you will have to use something like the stock hose that will take the high pressure. You will need a flex hose at the engine and then you can run hard line forward to the steering. Make sure it is large enough to carry enough volume. Any hydraulic shop should be able to make up what you need. You will need flex hose at the rack and pinion. The return line has less pressure so does not need to be a high pressure hydraulic hose. I would run hard line on the return just to make it easier and put the flex lines at the front and at the engine. You might want to look at the Toyota electric power steering. The guys with the GTMs are using that. |

If you go with the LS1 and Vette rack you would be best to have a hydraulic shop silver solder on some #6 JIC male ends to the existing tubes. This way a simple and cheap "#6 2 wire hose with female #6 JIC swivels" can be used.
I used #6 lines for the return and pressure. At the pump return I used a softer hose to fit on hose clamp it to the return port.
This way the weakest spot is only about 6 inches long at the pump.
You will three #6 JIC males silver soldered on - 2 at the rack fittings and 1 at the pump pressure side. |
