I have this 3rd brake light from a 96 suburban. I was looking and wondering why this wouldn't work. First thought, cut the hole out, and make a mounting bracket to mount the light under the bump.
Second thought, remove the hump and glass the body flat as if it didn't have the 3rd brake light. Then mount this unit to the top.

RJG,
I would leave the "bump" and fit the light under it with the appropriate cutout for the light.
The light looks good in that one view. I assume it fits under the bump in the other direction too.

| I used the OEM 3rd light that is made by Hella. From the looks of it in switta's photo above, the VW also uses the same Hella lamp. |

I just went to the "Yard" today to pick out a few things. Ran across a 3rd brake light. (VW)
RJG, if you still need it. Let me know. PM me. Before I listed on ebay or hand it over to another local build here....Ok
