Does anyone know the weight of an IFG 6.0 body? W/ or w/o doors or rockers. Educated approximations are welcome.
My gantry has been strong enough to lift the bare shell. I want to know if it needs strengthening as I add other components. I figure that I will still need to remove the body two or three more times (I'll be glad when that phase is finished).

4 of us lifted my IFG body and put it on the chassis like it was butter. I doubt if we were lifting 100lbs each.
Maybe I am stronger than I thought :0)

You probably are, Brian.
That's good news because I have been thinking it weighs, maybe, 600 lbs. or even more.
Thanks again.

| Be surprised if it were even 400#. When i set my body on and off (hundreds of times) used motorcycle type straps at all 4 corners with eyelets in the ceiling of the garage and lifted it on and off by myself. got to the point....... could raise and lower in minutes with little or no effort |

Thanks, Steve. I think my "gantry" is probably strong enough as it is. I'm beginning to relate to your "hundreds of times" comment.
BTW, your Diablo is outstanding.
(We saw your name in some film credits a couple of weeks ago)

Was funny after a while. All the times the body was either lifted or removed. The cinch a lock motorcycle straps worked out quite well. Some advice...... don't secure the body until your absolutly sure your ready........ it will be off a few more times, after you think your done
What film did you see??? |

| Hi, My body shells can be lifted in two, one in front and another in the back, and it doesn´t crac in the middle...heheheh. The secret is to strenghen the body on specific places. you dont need thick walls everywhere. I have a car running since 1997 and it has no cracks at all. |

Thanks for the complement....... Even in L.A. with all the exotics running around ...... it sure turns heads.
Have to chuckle...... seeing kids and adults hanging out of the windows of there cars, going down the freeway, taking photos of the car!!!
How far off is your completion date?? |
