hello all,
i know this has been touched on before, but i am about to put it in to use. other than the small displacement being a set back. has anyone used the ford 302 for their powerplant. i have a 5.0 sitting in my garage and cant justify spend another 3500.00 on a ls1 . my main question is can it be used and has anyone used one. i do know that kennedy has the adapter set up for the audi that i plan to use. if i can use this engine it would put me miles ahead on my build .if anyone has set a blueprint i would be grateful for the knowledge . looking forward to your comments . |

Hi John, you need to check out www.gt40s.com
The 5.0 to an Audi is an everyday thing over there.
Jusy my opinion, if I ever did a V-8 for myself it would be that engine or the 4.6 DOHC.

Don't be influenced by the old Ford vs Chevy debate. That is for juveniles. If you have the Ford engine, use it. You will not be disappointed. These cars get very expensive very quickly. If you have the engine and it runs well, you are ahead of the game.
Check out the GT40 site and go for it

i am so happy i can use this little pony. it will allow me to further my build. plus i love the sound of a tuned 5.0. i figure the money i would have spent on the ls or lt1 will go into beefing my 302. i see that summitt has great deals on 5.0 modifications. this will keep me most of the summer when my job slows down. thanks again guys finally some good news

I have never heard of someone using a Ford V-8 in a lambo replica. Most people typicaly use either a small block chevy or a BMW V-12.
Id like to see someone use the same ford V-8 found in the new Ford GT!. that is an SVT lightining engine so they are all over the place and all you would need to do is drop the same old supercharger in it and you got 550hp to the rear. The only problem is the tranny because i don't think a basic G50 could a modified engine like that. |

I don't know if you have your transaxle yet, but the Pantera ZF transaxle would be easy to fit since it already bolts up to the Ford and it will take all the power you want. Search the Pantera web sites and you could find a deal on one.
The ZFII (stage 2) is the one with the limited slip differential. I was lucky enough to find a freshly rebuilt unit that I adapted to my LT1 with a Kennedy Engineering bellhousing.

| rt so far i have the holley supermax topend. i will be going with the 331 bottom end. im leaving it with low compression pistons so that in the future i can add the supercharger. im in a holding pattern at the moment. i have ran out of room to work in the garage. i am selling the roadster body i have, and going with the sv. the only thing that worries me is the weak link in the tranny. im going to try and go with the upgraded audi. if it fails the g50 is next. i hope to have the engine together and in the chassis by november. i will keep you all updated. its a great engine for the price and they sound great. |
